Xwall 3.27 – spells more Spam relief

Spamers keep adjusting their methods to get around filtering technology. Xwall version 3.27, the third update this year, improves Spam filtering performance and adds automation features that keep Xwall ahead of the game.

The update is free to existing owners of Xwall. The latest version is always available at the Xwall support web site. A fully functional evaluation copy can also be downloaded.

A welcome feature is automatic Whitelisting. For readers unfamiliar with the term, Xwall can automatically build a list of email addresses to be excluded from filtering. The list typically includes addresses of people you send email to. The whitelist will make sure you will receive their reply and prevents important mail from being identified as junk mail.

Version 3.27 also has a redesigned database for its Bayes filter. The new database improves filter effectiveness and provides better automatic updates of the word list.

Xwall includes 4 predefined SLS/RBL Spam relay services with a new group feature and several preloaded Spam lists for text, subject or header blocking. By providing a set of preloaded lists, an Xwall installation can be effectively blocking Spam immediately after installation.

Several new configuration options and numerous Spam detection methods in Xwall provide IT professionals the tools to effectively control Spam. V3.26 features an even stronger Bayesian filter. This filter is a valued Spam fighting tools to many IT professionals. A Bayes filter can learn from experience. The new Xwall version features a Bayes mailbox. Simply forward the Spam email to it and the Bayes filter ads the information to it's database. Every message read by the filter is marked with a probability factor (1-100) of being Spam. The administrator can adjust the trigger point to avoid false positives.

Lately Spam appears with a harmless headers and external attachment. Xwall allows you to block these messages. If your favorite newsletters happens to use this method just enter them in the white list (exclude) to keep them coming. Other enhancements include blocking of files with double extension (filename.exe.txt), additional options to handle detected SMTP messages.
